Who Doesn't like kolukattai's? Yes Kids love it so much. Shravana(Tamil-aadi) month is famous for its festivals. Every mother make her kids to look beautiful especially girl kids(Goddess mahalakshmi) for the house and make yummy dishes for those angels. Irrespective of the gender kids likes to eat yummy dishes and roam around happily. Still I remember my childhood and those golden days never comeback but we can recall those beautiful moments by preparing these yummy recipes and feel delightful when your kid love the same recipe

Ingredients Needed

For kolukattai dough
Rice flour-1Cup*
Water-2Cups
Salt-as needed
Sesame oil-1tsp

For Sweet kolukattai

*1Cup-240ml

Preparation
  1. Dry roast rice folur until its hot to touch. Take off from the stove keep it aside.
  2. Meanwhile Boil 2cups of water with salt and 1tsp of sesame oil 
  3. When its starts roll boiling take off from the flame add it to the flour. Add water little by little mix the dough with spatula. It takes only 1.5 to 1.75 cups water only
  4. Now close the dough for few mins until its little warm to tough. Grease your hands with sesame oil and knead the dough well.I am sure you will get unbreakable dough with this method.Cover it with wet kitchen towel
  5. Take Out the ball sized dough and press it with your thumb in center. Make the kolukattai outer cover carefully like the small circle. Take out the small ball from the thengai poornam and keep it in the center of the circle
  6. Cover it carefully and seal edges. Do the same for the rest of the dough.Arrange it in the plate
  7. Take steamer and add water allow it to boil little and keep the kolukattais carefully on the steamer plates and steam it for 8 to 10 minutes
  8. Kolukattai is ready to serve
