Green gram dal is rich in protein and goes well with chapathi or roti. If you want to give balanced diet for your kid then its necessary to add sufficient protein & calcium in that. This yummy colorful dal makes your kids to eat it so easily. My little one said this sambar tastes good😃.

Ingredients Needed
Green Moong dal-1/2cup*
Ghee-1tbsp
Bay leaf-1
Onion-2
Tomato-3
Ginger garlic paste-3/4tsp
Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
Red chili powdr-1tsp
Coriander powder-1tsp
Garam masala powder-1/2tsp
Salt-as needed
Coriander leaves-Finely chopped (for garnishing)
To Temper
Oil-1tsp
Cumin seeds/Jeera-1tsp
Red chili powder-1/4tsp
Hing- a pinch
*1Cup-240ml
Preparation
- Take 1/2Cup Green moong dal in a bowl & wash it for 2 or 3 times. Soak it for 6-8 hours or overnight. Pressure cook dal for 6-8 whistles.
- Heat the kadai with 1tbsp of ghee, add 1bay leaf
- Add finely chopped 2 onions & saute it for a while
- When onion turns transparent add 3/4tsp of ginger garlic paste & saute it well.
- Once the raw smell of ginger garlic paste goes add finely chopped 3 tomatoes
- When tomatoes turns mushy & ghee starts to oozes out add 1/2tsp Turmeric powder, 1tsp Red chili powder, 1tsp Coriander Powder, 1/2tsp Garam masala powder & saute it generously
- Add necessary salt & mix it well
- Mash cooked dal & add it to the kadai
- Add 1cup of water.
- Allow it to boil for 5 to 7 minutes
- Heat the pan, add 1tsp oil, 1tsp Cumin seeds once its splutters Switch off the flame add 1/4tsp Red chili powder & a pinch of Hing
- Switch off the flame & add tempered items to the kadai
- Add finely chopped Coriander leaves
Notes
- Soak Green moong dal minimum 5hours & maximum overnight to get better results
- Pressure cook for 8 to 10 whistles if you soak it for 5hours
