Thengai Poornam | Coconut Poornam | How to make Thengai Poornam for kolukattai - Naughty Little BEES Kitchen

In my childhood we were waiting for the festival days to come to taste these yummy poornam. My Mom usually made this on varalakshmi pooja and ganesh chathurthi. We use this poornam as stuff for kolukattai,modak and poli . My sister used to eat this plain poornam as it is as she is the big fan of sweets. Like my sister my little one and her daughter also started eating this poornam as it is. she loves kolukattai and poli too. she calls poli as sweet chapathi😃

Ingredients Needed
Grated Coconut-1Cup*
Grated Jaggery-3/4cup
Cardamom Powder/Cardamom-1/4 tsp / 1Pod
Water-1tbsp

*1Cup-240ml

Preparation
  1. Heat the kadai on the stove, pour 1tbsp water to it and add 3/4cup grated jaggery to this
  2. Allow it to boil till the jaggery completely dissolves.Filter the jaggery syrup for impurities 
  3. Heat the pan and add filtered Jaggery syrup and allow it to boil again.Add 1cup grated coconut and Cardamom powder/Cardamom pod to the jaggery syrup. Mix it well together
  4. Keep on stirring till the poornam starts leaving the pan
  5. Thengai Poornam is ready
Notes
  1. Instead of jaggery we can use sugar too but Jaggery version tastes greater than sugar thengai poornam
  2. Use the correct proportion of ingredients to get best results
