Ragi Semiya Upuma | Finger millet Vermicelli Upuma | How to make Ragi semiya upuma _ Savoury Version - Naughty Little BEES kitchen

Usually kids don't prefer to eat healthy recipes but my little one really liked this recipe(both sweet  & savoury). Ragi/Finger millet takes time to get digest. Better give this as a breakfast than dinner. This fiber rich yummy dish will make your kids stronger.

Ingredients Needed
Ragi semiya-1pack
Onion-1big size
Green chilli-2 or 3
Salt-as needed

To Temper
Oil-2tsp
Mustard seeds-1/4tsp
Urad dal-1/2tsp
Channa dal-1/2tsp
Curry leaves-few
Hing-a pinch

Preparation
  1. Open the pack and put it in the bowl. Soak ragi semiya/Finger millet vermicelli with enough water for 3minutes.
  2. In the mean time heat the Idly pot with water. Grease the idly plates with little oil. Drain water from the bowl and arrange it evenly on the idly plates. Steam for 5-7 minutes. Once its done take ragi semiya/Finger millet vermicelli from the idly plate & fluff it with fork and keep aside
  3. Heat the pan with 2tsp oil, Once the oil is hot add 1/4tsp Mustard seeds when it splutters add 1/2tsp Urad dal, 1/2tsp channa dal, when dal turns golden color add curry leaves and hing 
  4. Add 2 chopped green chilies & finely chopped 1big onion
  5. When onion turns transparent add fluffed ragi semiya/Finger millet vermicelli to the pan. Add necessary salt
  6. Check for the salt. Ragi semiya/Finger millet vermicelli upuma is ready to serve

Notes
  1. Steaming & soaking time is very important in this recipe else it might ends in soggy upuma
  2. Ragi semiya/Finger millet vermicelli can be prepared as sweet or savoury version upuma
