Beetroot Tikki | How to make Beetroot Tikki | Healthy evening snacks recipe - Naughty Little BEES Kitchen

Beetroot tikki is the perfect tea time snacks or you can give to the kids in the evening once they come from the school. This fiber rich content will satisfy the hunger of the little stomach healthily. Beetroot tikki goes well with green chutney(Chutney made with coriander leaves, mint leaves, ginger, green chili & salt with little tamarind) or it can be taken as it is or ketchup, choice is yours. Adding little bread crumbs make the dish crispy outside & soft inside. Bread crumbs can be replaced by semolina(suji). I used cooked & mashed potatoes with this recipe, cooked green peas ,grated carrot, grated paneer can also be added with this to enhance the flavor.

Ingredients needed
Boiled Potatoes-2(big)
Grated Beetroot-2(big)
Turmeric Powder-1/4tsp
Red chili Powder-1/2tsp
Coriander Powder-3/4tsp
Garam masala Powder-1/4tsp
Bread Crumbs-1/2cup
Lemon Juice-1tbsp
Salt-as needed
Oil-2tbsp

Preparation
  1. Take a mixing bowl & add 2 boiled potatoes
  2. Mash the potatoes & add grated beetroot
  3. Add masalas like 1/4tsp Turmeric Powder, 1/2tsp Red chili powder, 3/4tsp coriander powder, 1/4tsp garam masala powder 
  4. Add necessary salt
  5. Add 1/2 cup of Bread Crumbs & 1tbsp of Lemon juice in the bowl
  6. Mix everything well with the spoon(mix with hands finally if needed).Beetroot tikki mix is ready now
  7. Take a ball size of tikki mix and flat it with your hands and seal the cracks in the sides. Repeat this step for the remaining mix
  8. Heat the pan with 1tbsp of oil. Place the tikkis in the pan and allow it to cook on both sides 
  9. Serve Beetroot tikki hot with green chutney or ketchup

Notes
  1. I shallow fried tikkis, deep fry can also be done 
  2. You can bake the tikkis too(pre heated oven at 180 degree C for 15 mins)
  3. Grated paneer or grated cheese can be added to enhance the flavor & make protein rich tikki
  4. Boiled green peas & grated carrot can also be added for variation
