Aloo(Potato) is all time favorite for kids. Poori masala or aloo masala is the best side dish for poori even for chapathi or you can stuff it between dosai and serve as masala dosai. You can make coconut chutney with this poori masala that is the best combination for poori or chapathi. In my house potato masala,coconut chutney with poori or chapathi is the usual menu we made at least once in a week.

Ingrdients needed
Potato-2(big)
Onion-2(Big)
Besan/Chickpeas flour-1tbsp
Turmeric Powder-1/2tsp
To Temper
Oil-2tsp
Mustard seeds-1/4tsp
Urad dal-1/2tsp
Channa dal-1tsp
Green chili-2 (finely chopped)
Curry leaves-few
Preparation
- Boil the potatoes in pressure cooker for 4 whistles. Lets the pressure settle down,peel the skin of the potatoes and mash it slightly
- Heat kadai with oil, Throw some mustard seeds,Urad dal,channa dal, allow it to splutter then add green chili, curry leaves.Keep the flame low to medium
- Add onions fry it till turns transparent
- Add turmeric powder
- Add mashed potatoes
- Take besan in a small bowl, add 2tbsp of water to it, mix it without any lumps
- Pour this mixture to the kadai and add more water around 1/2 cup.Add necessary salt
- Cook for 5-7 minutes in low flame. Potato masala for poori is ready now.
Notes
- I mashed potatoes completely as my daughter likes that texture. You can mash it slightly if you like potato chunks in your recipe
- Add one more green chili if you want spicy version
- As I don't have coriander leaves I didn't add it. If you have you can add it too as it gives nice flavor to your recipe
