Simple Dal Fry | How to make Dal fry | Side dish for Chapathi - Naughty Little BEES Kitchen
It is important to give the healthy and delicious foods to kids which improves their mental skills and physical strength and always presenting it in their way its also important to make them eat. Simple dishes with good presentation will attract them to eat our traditional foods.Always make sure to give enough of protein rich foods. Here I am giving simple protein loaded side dish for chapathi/roti/phulka.
Dish Name: Simple Dal Fry Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cuisine: North-Indian Serves:2-3 people
Ingredients needed
Moong dal-1/2 cup*
Onion-1 big
Tomato-2 medium
Ginger garlic paste-1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder-1/2 tsp
Red Chili Powder-1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder-1 tsp
Garam masala Powder-1/4 tsp
Salt-as needed
To Temper
Oil-1 tsp(any vegetable oil)
Jeera/cumin seeds-1tsp
Curry leaves-few
Green chili -2(slit)
Coriander leaves(finely chopped)- for Garnishing
*1Cup-240ml
Preparation
- Wash the dal well in running water for 2-3 times, Pressure cook the dal for whistles by adding 1/4 tsp of turmeric to it.
- Heat the heavy bottom kadai add oil and throw 1 tsp of cumin seeds, when it splutters add curry leaves and stilted green chilies
- Add chopped onions to this and fry them til it turns pink
- Add finely chopped tomatoes to this and mix them until the tomatoes turns mushy. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder,coriander powder and garam masala powder to this and mix everything well by adding little water. Allow this to boil until the raw smell of masala goes off
- Take out the dal from the pressure cooker and mash it well. Now mix the mashed dal to the pan.Add the required salt, Mix everything well. Add 1/2 cup of water and allow it to boil for 5 minutes. switch off the fame and garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves
Notes
- I didn't add ginger garlic paste, if you want you can add after onions turns pink , fry them well without getting burnt. Fry till the raw smell of the ginger garlic paste goes off, add tomatoes after that
- As I don't have coriander leaves i didn't add it, you can add it once you switch off the flame
