This recipe is one of my little one's favorite recipe. whenever i had leftover idlies i make this recipe for her.Even my husband likes it๐Ÿ˜‡. This is very simple and yummy recipe it takes very less time to make. You can add even potato, cauliflower, paneer to make it rich. we had this recipe for dinner with the leftover idlies in morning


Kaima Idly

Ingredients Needed

Leftover idly-5 to 6
Onion-1
Tomato (Local)-1
Capsicum-1/2
Green Peas-Handful
Coriander leaves-few (Finely chopped)

Masala Powders

Turmeric Powder- ½ tsp
Red Chilli Powder - ½ tsp
Coriander Powder - ½ tsp 
Garam masala Powder - ½ tsp
Tomato ketchup - 3 tbsp

To Temper

Oil-2tsp
Fennel seeds/jeera/cumin seeds-1tsp
Curry leaves-few
Green chilli-1 

Preparation

  •  Chop onion, tomato, capsicum, coriander leaves and take a handful of frozen green peas or boil fresh green peas, slit the green chili. Keep all the ingredients ready. Meanwhile, Preheat the oven in convection mode for 7 mins in 190 degrees C, cut the frozen idly into cubes and brush the oven-safe plate with oil, arrange the idli cubes in the plate and keep it on the upper rack of the oven, cook for 10 mins if you don’t have an oven you can deep fry the idli cubes. 


  • Heat the pan with a tsp of oil and add 1tsp of fennel seeds/cumin seeds allow it to splutter add  curry leaves, green chili

  • Add the onion in the pan and fry till it transfers pink color.

  • Add Tomatoes and fry till it gets mushy. Add capsicum fry till it remains crispy don’t cook capsicum completely it will spoil the taste of the recipe. Add the cooked green peas add ½ tsp Turmeric powder, ½ tsp red chili powder ½ tsp coriander powder ½ tsp garam masala powder , a little salt and 3tbsp of tomato ketchup

  • Saute it well. Add the deep-fried or baked idli pieces and mix it well with the veggie mix for 3 mins
           
  • Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves. Kaima idly is now ready to serve. It tastes great when Serve hot.
     

Notes

  • You can either deep-fry or bake the idly pieces its completely your option. Don’t forget to refrigerate the idlies minimum for six hours.
  • If you want to make Kaima idly for dinner keep the idlies in the refrigerator in the morning itself if possible.You can veggies of your choice like grated carrot, finely chopped cauliflower, potato.
